Recommendations to the patient after dental prosthetics
After fixing fixed prosthetic structures (onlays, veneers, crowns, bridges, etc.), you must be careful for several hours - do not chew, do not bite with effort, because at this time the complete final polymerization of the fixing material occurs.
Compliance with general rules of oral hygiene. If there are hanging parts of the structure, you should use "super floss" and/or an interdental brush, an intraoral irrigator (rinse). With their help, it is possible to most effectively clean the surface of the prosthesis's attachment to the oral mucosa
With veneers, crowns with ceramic facings, it is forbidden to shell seeds, bite off the shells of nuts, bite hard objects, hold sharp hard objects in your teeth, knock your teeth with a fork, spoon, etc.
Professional examinations and professional cleaning should be carried out 2 times a year every 6 months (in people with problematic periodontal disease 3-4 times a year, every 3-4 months).
Removable prosthetics
The adaptation period to removable prosthetics is individual, but on average it takes 10-30 days. During this period, there may be increased salivation, nausea, slurred speech, reduced taste and tactile sensations.
After some time after putting on a newly made prosthesis, most often at the end of the first day, pain may appear under the prosthesis in certain areas when talking and eating, in which case it is necessary to immediately consult a doctor for correction of the prosthesis (complete fitting of the prosthesis occurs in 1-5 visits) (correction of the prosthesis is mandatory, due to the flexibility of the oral mucosa, which is expressed differently in each person).
To speed up the improvement of pronunciation, it is recommended to talk or read aloud.
To shorten the adaptation period in the first 5-7 days, it is better to leave the dentures in the mouth overnight, having cleaned and rinsed them the night before after eating, and repeat this procedure in the morning.
During the night, the dentures can be stored in a dry environment (box), periodically treat them with special disinfectant effervescent tablets and brushes for removable dentures, or use an ultrasonic bath for cleaning.
For oral care, special elixirs are used, as well as adhesive creams that increase the fixation of the dentures to the mucous membrane. The general rules for maintaining oral hygiene remain unchanged.
During the first day, you should eat softer, better-rubbed foods. In the future, follow your usual diet, avoiding solid foods, such as bread crusts, crackers, nuts, etc. After eating, dentures must be removed and washed, and the oral cavity rinsed.
The effectiveness of prosthetics depends on the strict implementation of the doctor's recommendations regarding the use of a specific prosthesis:
-regularly and strictly follow the rules of personal oral hygiene. Brush your teeth and dentures in the morning and evening, rinse your mouth and dentures after each meal;
- visit a doctor to adjust dentures. In no case do not independently correct removable dentures and repair them.
- consult a doctor for preventive purposes at least once a year, and if complications or breakage of dentures occur - consult immediately.
- professional examinations and professional cleaning should be carried out 2 times a year every 6 months (in people with problematic periodontal disease 3-4 times a year, after 3-4 months).
